We are finishing up our 4th week, and I’m frankly disappointed that I don’t see much resurgence other than increasingly “neediness” and lethargy. I’m a dog trainer and AKC obedience judge. My problem is that my girl “fires off” with no warning. She’s unconfined with people, but dogs plane on TV, rationalization explosive outbursts. She’s gone without her housemates, and without a horribly loud and potentially dangerous (avoided due to her wearing a basket muzzle) attack, she acts like it never happened, engages in play bows etc. E collar (which you transiently mentioned whilom use has been suggested, but I’m concerned that my dog may perceive the vibration as coming from the other dog and subsequently ramp up plane more…so I guess I’m asking in a round well-nigh way how long should I have to wait to determine if the medication is unquestionably helping? ]]> Comment on Options for FearWarlikeDogs: Prozac and Behavioral Training by Karen Mooney http://www.zen5.me/a/278/options-for-fear-aggressive-dogs-prozac-and-behavioral-training/comment-page-1/#comment-16009 Sun, 15 Jan 2017 17:39:16 +0000 http://www.zen5.me/?p=278#comment-16009 Hi – So glad to see your blog. I have a rescue GSD male (fixed) approx 11 months who has come with a LOT of baggage. 3 1/2 months in vet bills/training at 3 grand – I can live with that (EPI for him w/pancreatic enzymes now). But I cannot live with him not unsuspicious our new rescue, a 3 year old male mastiff who is sending only calming signals to the GSD. Excellent trainer who is working with us (recommended by our vet) watched the GSD outdoors, running repetitive path and tail chasing for up to 5 hours without responding to us AT ALL – and said, “I don’t do this often – but he needs Prozac” She informed our vet and we are now on day 3 for the GSD. Hoping and praying with the medication and lots of unfurled training that we can get him to exist uncomplicatedly in our household. Hubby and I DO NOT requite up on dogs – but this one is really pushing my limits. This coming from a mom who had 2 severely colicky babies that NO ONE else (even pediatrician) wanted to take superintendency of!! Please alimony us informed of your hound and I will alimony my fingers crossed for all our “kids”. ]]> Comment on Options for FearWarlikeDogs: Prozac and Behavioral Training by Laura S Faulconer http://www.zen5.me/a/278/options-for-fear-aggressive-dogs-prozac-and-behavioral-training/comment-page-1/#comment-15731 Thu, 07 Apr 2016 17:21:45 +0000 http://www.zen5.me/?p=278#comment-15731 I’d love to know how your dog has responded to the Prozac and how well everything with Sit Means Sit has worked out. We have an extremely reactive, very intelligent, one year old dog and have been through 5 trainers so far….seeing little improvement. ]]> Comment on Abdominoplasty / Tummy tuck for cadre strength to help when pain patients by lynne http://www.zen5.me/a/744/abdominoplasty-tummy-tuck-for-core-strength-to-help-back-pain-patients/comment-page-1/#comment-15531 Mon, 22 Feb 2016 20:30:39 +0000 http://www.zen5.me/?p=744#comment-15531 I did have a fusion of L5/s1 – not sure if I mentioned that in the post. If you go that route, do a minimally invasive approach, it is far easier!!! I did moreover have a lot of pelvic pain and SI discomfort and yes, a lot of that is better! I am not 100% but I was trying EVERYTHING and this by far has given increasingly relief than anything else I tried. It depends on your torso and my research suggested that it was pain from misalignment throughout my soul and my doctors kept saying, Physical Therapy. I tried PT 4 times and each time, my pain got worse. I couldn’t strenghthen what was broken. Now my when pain is largest and my pelvic pain was better. A TT is a very nonflexible surgery too, it was harder to recover from than my fusion (minimally invasive) but I was moreover younger for that surgery so I think age matters too. The younger women who had the surgery did largest with recovery than the older ones (not that I am too old, only 47 – but many ladies were 10 years younger). I hope this helps. ]]> Comment on Abdominoplasty / Tummy tuck for cadre strength to help when pain patients by Chan http://www.zen5.me/a/744/abdominoplasty-tummy-tuck-for-core-strength-to-help-back-pain-patients/comment-page-1/#comment-15529 Tue, 16 Feb 2016 06:33:49 +0000 http://www.zen5.me/?p=744#comment-15529 Thank you for sharing this. I have just completed a series of x-rays and a MRI. My doctor recommended a fusion surgery to set the SI joint and rod it together. This seems lattermost and all my research states that patients, mostly women wits severe pain and later must go when to have the lumbar rods inserted. I have not mentioned my research of the tt or si post-surgery complications to my doctor but I am guessing she won’t be very supportive. Again, thank you dearly for sharing. I would like to know how your pelvic pain and/or discomfort is now since your tt, if you don’t mind sharing. ]]> Comment on Options for FearWarlikeDogs: Prozac and Behavioral Training by Rebecca http://www.zen5.me/a/278/options-for-fear-aggressive-dogs-prozac-and-behavioral-training/comment-page-1/#comment-15228 Mon, 12 Oct 2015 14:33:48 +0000 http://www.zen5.me/?p=278#comment-15228 You story whilom mirrors mine! I did everything right from the get-go. Met the dogs parents surpassing they bred – check. Visited puppy and tested him at visits a few times surpassing we brought him home – check. Took him to puppy playdates to socialize (he would not interact w other puppies) – check. Took him everywhere to socialize him – check. Spent thousands of dollars on trainers that said they treated warlike dogs only to be taught sit, stay, walk nicely, etc. My dog is now three and he hates other dogs and he seems unpredictable at times, so I am reluctant to plane take him anywhere public. Do you think Prozac might nippy him out plane a little? ]]> Comment on Options for FearWarlikeDogs: Prozac and Behavioral Training by Barbara Banda http://www.zen5.me/a/278/options-for-fear-aggressive-dogs-prozac-and-behavioral-training/comment-page-1/#comment-15011 Tue, 28 Apr 2015 04:44:11 +0000 http://www.zen5.me/?p=278#comment-15011 I was wondering well-nigh an update for your dog? My dog suffers from fear overstepping as well. It is extremely stressful on a daily understructure dealing with this. I have to muzzle him when people are over. He is on Fluvoxamine 50 mg. daily. I have thought well-nigh e-collar training myself but everyone tells me it could make fear overstepping worse. I would love to have a normal life with our dog whom we all have grown fond of. Let me know how you are making out. ]]>
